My Little Pony Nightmare Night (BP03) Guide: Card List, Chase Cards & Treats
Share
Somebody at Kayou clearly loves Halloween as much as we do.
Nightmare Night is the third booster set for the playable My Little Pony TCG and the ponies have gone all out with their costumes. Twilight's a witch. Applejack's wrapped up as a mummy. Rainbow Dash is in a wolf suit and looks personally offended about it. Pinkie Pie is, naturally, a pumpkin with a crown. Fluttershy is a bat, which is the best costume in the set (we're not biased) (we're biased). And this time the villains get invited to the party too.
This is our complete guide to My Little Pony Nightmare Night (BP03): the full card list by rarity, every chase card and how Treats work. Opening a Nightmare Night booster box gets you 20 packs plus a promo pack, or you can start with a single Nightmare Night booster pack.
If you've opened Fantasy Wonderland (BP01) or Discord (BP02), you'll feel right at home. Same box, same odds, same five Shining (※) chase tiers. The big new thing is Treats.
Inside the box
- 20 packs, 5 cards each, so 100 cards to rip
- A bonus promo pack with a full-art Treat token card
- 190 different cards to collect over 13 rarities
- English cards, all numbered BP03
- Released 25 September 2026

Spotting a Shining card
See a ※ before the card number? That's a Shining: brand-new artwork, a fancier finish and, on most of them, the artist's signature. The sneaky part is that it shares its number with the regular version, so ※BP03-CR06 Rarity and BP03-CR06 Rarity are two separate cards with two different pictures. Check for the symbol before you sleeve it with the bulk (ask us how we know).
Nightmare Night has 46 Shining cards across five tiers.
Every rarity in the set
| Rarity | How many | Who's in it |
|---|---|---|
| Common | 48 | 24 character cards plus 24 story cards |
| Uncommon | 18 | The Mane Six twice each, plus Spike, Philomena, Daring Do, Ahuizotl, Flim and Flam |
| Silver Rare | 14 | The Mane Six, plus Spike, Zecora, Mayor Mare, Princess Luna, Nightmare Moon, Discord, Queen Chrysalis and King Sombra |
| Sapphire Rare | 28 | 21 Events plus 7 Items |
| Emerald Rare | 6 | Two Nightmare Night scenes, three panels each |
| Gold Rare | 12 | The Mane Six, a second Twilight and five special guests |
| Colorful Rare | 12 | The Mane Six, two each |
| Ruby Rare | 6 | The Mane Six |
The Shining chase tiers
| Tier | Cards | Who's in it |
|---|---|---|
| ※ Shining Ruby Rare | 6 | The Mane Six |
| ※ Shining Colorful Rare | 12 | The Mane Six, two each |
| ※ Shining Gold Rare | 5 | Star Swirl, Twilight, Luna, Shining Armor and Cadance |
| ※ Shining Emerald Rare | 12 | Both scenes, every panel, Day and Night versions |
| ※ Shining Sapphire Rare | 11 | Nine Events plus two Items |
※ Shining Ruby Rare, the grail
Six cards, one for each of the Mane Six and the rarest tier in the set. No game text, just full artwork and the artist's signature.
Here's something we didn't expect: the Ruby Rares aren't Halloween at all. They're a celebration, with the whole gang in flower crowns. On the Shining versions, Twilight takes the microphone, Pinkie Pie spins the decks, Applejack plays the fiddle, Fluttershy conducts a choir of birds, Rainbow Dash dances and Rarity sparkles in a pair of fairy wings.
- ※BP03-RR01 Twilight Sparkle
- ※BP03-RR02 Fluttershy
- ※BP03-RR03 Pinkie Pie
- ※BP03-RR04 Applejack
- ※BP03-RR05 Rainbow Dash
- ※BP03-RR06 Rarity

The six Shining Ruby Rares, ※BP03-RR01 to RR06.
The regular Ruby Rares (BP03-RR01 to RR06) share the celebration theme with their own artwork.

※ Shining Gold Rare and why this one's different
Here's the twist. In BP01 and BP02 the Shining Gold Rares were the Mane Six. Nightmare Night hands the spotlight to the royals and legends instead. There are only five cards in the tier:
- ※BP03-GR07 Star Swirl the Bearded. "From one to another, another to one" lettered across the artwork.
- ※BP03-GR08 Twilight Sparkle. The only Mane Six pony to make the cut, with "From all of us together, together we are friends" written in the art.
- ※BP03-GR09 Princess Luna. Rising under a full moon. Nightmare Night is her holiday, after all.
- ※BP03-GR11 Shining Armor. Side by side with Cadance.
- ※BP03-GR12 Princess Cadance. Side by side with Shining Armor.

The five Shining Gold Rares.
Every sealed box has one Shining Gold Rare locked in. This time there are five to collect instead of six.
※ Shining Colorful Rare
Twelve cards, two for each of the Mane Six, in two very different moods.
CR01 to CR06: costume night. The Mane Six in their Halloween best, with Princess Luna joining the fun in several of them.
- ※BP03-CR01 Twilight Sparkle
- ※BP03-CR02 Fluttershy
- ※BP03-CR03 Pinkie Pie
- ※BP03-CR04 Applejack
- ※BP03-CR05 Rainbow Dash
- ※BP03-CR06 Rarity

Shining Colorful Rares ※BP03-CR01 to CR06.
CR07 to CR12: King Sombra. Every one of these six sets a Mane Six pony against King Sombra, most of them with the Crystal Heart close by.
- ※BP03-CR07 Twilight Sparkle
- ※BP03-CR08 Fluttershy
- ※BP03-CR09 Pinkie Pie
- ※BP03-CR10 Applejack
- ※BP03-CR11 Rainbow Dash
- ※BP03-CR12 Rarity

※ Shining Emerald Rare, the panorama set
This is the tier we're most excited about. BP03 has two scene cards and each one comes in three panels (Left, Middle and Right) that line up side by side into one wide scene:
- BP03-ER01 Nightmare Night Square. Balloons, lanterns, an apple bobbing stall and a stage. Gives your Nightmare Night character +1 Inspiration until the end of the Contact.
- BP03-ER02 Nightmare Night Market. Candy stalls and cupcakes under the stars. Puts a Treat on your Nightmare Night character in the Contact.

※BP03-ER01 Nightmare Night Square, all six Shining panels.

※BP03-ER02 Nightmare Night Market, all six Shining panels.
Just like BP01 and BP02, every Shining panel comes in a Day and a Night version. That's 12 Shining Emerald Rares in total. Completing one full Shining scene means finding all three panels in the same version. Each box only guarantees one Shining Emerald. Set builders, good luck. We're rooting for you.
※ Shining Sapphire Rare
Eleven cards.
Events:
- ※BP03-SPR03 Legend of Nightmare Moon
- ※BP03-SPR04 Trick or Treat!
- ※BP03-SPR06 Throwing Pumpkins
- ※BP03-SPR08 Spooky Apple Pool
- ※BP03-SPR11 Graffiti
- ※BP03-SPR16 Rafting
- ※BP03-SPR17 Dragon Disguise
- ※BP03-SPR19 Electric Clouds
- ※BP03-SPR20 Ingredient Purchase
Items:
- ※BP03-SPR23 Candy Bowl
- ※BP03-SPR25 Memory Book

Shining Sapphire Rare Events.

More Shining Sapphire Rare Events, plus the two Shining Items.
Our sleeper pick is the Candy Bowl. It can only be attached to a Nightmare Night character and it gives that character +2 Inspiration every time a Treat is put on them. It's about as Nightmare Night as an Item gets. Only two Items in the set got the Shining treatment.
The Gold Rares
Twelve cards: the Mane Six in costume (GR01 to GR06), a second Twilight (GR08) and five special guests. The guests are where the fun is:
- BP03-GR07 Star Swirl the Bearded. Can tap to move himself into the Story Area, where he becomes the Plan. You'll need 4 or more Events in your Retirement Area first. His Pre-plan draws you a card.
- BP03-GR08 Twilight Sparkle. Gets +3 Inspiration whenever you trigger a Pre-plan effect and draws you a card when that Pre-plan is Star Swirl the Bearded. These two are built to be played together.
- BP03-GR09 Princess Luna and BP03-GR10 Nightmare Moon. Two sides of the same pony and their cards mirror each other perfectly. Luna gives each tapped character on your side +1 Inspiration and can tap one of your characters. Nightmare Moon gives each tapped character on your opponent's side −1 Inspiration and can tap two of them.
- BP03-GR11 Shining Armor and BP03-GR12 Princess Cadance. The royal couple look after each other. While Cadance is in your Adventure Area, Shining Armor won't retire in Contact. While Shining Armor is there, Cadance won't retire from Events. Both draw you a card.

Bring on the baddies
BP02 gave us Discord. Nightmare Night brings the whole gang. Discord (SR12), Queen Chrysalis (SR13) and King Sombra (SR14) all turn up at Silver Rare. Nightmare Moon gets both a Silver Rare (SR11) and a Gold Rare (GR10). Her Gold Rare even carries the Villain keyword. King Sombra also stars in all six second-round Colorful Rares (CR07 to CR12), so if you're collecting villains, he's the one to chase.

Treats, explained
Here's the fun bit. Nightmare Night brings in Treats, a marker you put on a character in your Adventure Area. Every box comes with a promo pack holding a full-art Treat token card to keep track of them. What makes Treats matter is the cards that use them.
Giving Treats ("Treat for you!")
- When Pinkie Pie (BP03-GR03) appears, she puts a Treat on every Nightmare Night character in both Adventure Areas, including your opponent's. Very generous. Very Pinkie.
- The Event card Trick or Treat! (BP03-SPR04) gives one of your Nightmare Night characters +1 Inspiration until the end of turn and puts a Treat on it.
Spending Treats ("Treat for me!")
- Twilight Sparkle (BP03-CR01) removes her Treat to bring an Event back from your Retirement Area to your hand.
- Fluttershy (BP03-CR02) removes her Treat to give one of your opponent's characters −2 Inspiration while she gets +2.
- Pinkie Pie (BP03-CR03) removes her Treat to give every Nightmare Night character in your Adventure Area +2 Inspiration.
- Rainbow Dash (BP03-CR05) can tap and remove her Treat to make the next Nightmare Night card you play from your hand this turn cost 2 less.
Holding Treats
- While Applejack (BP03-CR04) has a Treat, every character in your opponent's Adventure Area gets −1 Inspiration. Mummy Applejack does not share.
- While Rainbow Dash (BP03-GR05) has a Treat, she gets +2 Inspiration.
- The Candy Bowl (BP03-SPR23) gives the Nightmare Night character it's attached to +2 Inspiration every time a Treat is put on them.

Colorful Rares BP03-CR01 to CR06, home to most of the Treat abilities.
Pre-plan shows up in this set too. Witch Twilight (BP03-GR01) can retire one of your opponent's characters with a cost of 4 or less, as long as you have a Nightmare Night character in your Adventure Area. Tuxedo Rarity (BP03-CR06) can retire one with 5 or more Inspiration, once you have 3 or more Nightmare Night cards in your Retirement Area.
Six brand-new stories
BP01 and BP02 retold episodes from the show. Nightmare Night brings brand-new Halloween stories instead: six of them, four cards each, one for every member of the Mane Six.
- Twilight and the Royal Prank (C25 to C28)
- Fluttershy and the Firefly Fright (C29 to C32)
- Pinkie Pie and the Haunted Kitchen (C33 to C36)
- Applejack and the Lost Moonlight Map (C37 to C40)
- Rainbow Dash and the Phantom Night Race (C41 to C44)
- Rarity and the Carousel Haunted House (C45 to C48)
Our favourite chapter title is "The Guests All Fled!" from Rarity's haunted house. We can just picture her face.
The rest of the cast
Beyond the Mane Six, the royals and the villains, Nightmare Night brings in Spike, Zecora, Mayor Mare, Philomena, Daring Do, Ahuizotl, Flim and Flam, the Cutie Mark Crusaders, Big McIntosh, Granny Smith, Cheerilee, Muffins and Angel.
What every sealed box guarantees
Nightmare Night uses the exact same pull rates as Fantasy Wonderland and Discord. Every sealed box is locked in for:
- 1 × Ruby Rare
- 1 × Shining Gold Rare
- 1 × Shining Emerald Rare
- 2 × Gold Rare
- 2 × Colorful Rare
- Around 7 Silver Rares
The big ones are rarer:
- Shining Sapphire Rare: about 1 in every 4 boxes
- Shining Colorful Rare: about 1 in every 8 boxes
- Shining Ruby Rare: 1 per sealed master case (32 boxes). The grail.
No dead boxes. Every single one has two Shinings in it.
The full breakdown is in our My Little Pony TCG rarity and pull rate guide.
So what should you chase?
- Opening one box? Your Shining Gold Rare is guaranteed and there are only five to find. Star Swirl or Luna would be our dream pull.
- Building a set? The Shining Emerald panoramas. Twelve cards across two scenes in Day and Night. Nobody finishes them by accident.
- Building a deck? Go for the Treat combo. Pinkie Pie GR03 hands them out and Applejack CR04 punishes your opponent for it. Both are available as singles.
- Villain fan? King Sombra, at Silver Rare and across all six King Sombra Colorful Rares.
- Our sleeper pick: ※BP03-SPR23 Candy Bowl. Items get less love than pony portraits. Only two got the Shining treatment.

Keep your pulls safe
Pulled something shiny? Straight into a penny sleeve, then a toploader or semi-rigid. Shining foils scratch if you look at them wrong, so tilt the card to see the effect instead of rubbing it. (We learned that one the hard way too.)
